Teaching: "A Call to Compassion"
October 7 through November 25, 2008

Our society holds a striking number of similarities with the culture of the Middle Ages. The West was at war with the Muslim world. The Church was viewed skeptically and perceived as being full of hypocrites. Many Christians had compromised their faith and blended in with the culture around them. Then came a man named Francis who changed everything. Join us for "A Call to Compassion: Lessons from the Life of St. Francis".

TNL India Team
posted september 29, 2008

A team from TNLC is traveling to northern India to visit Ryan Koeniger October 8-21. Ryan works for Engineering Ministries International (EMI) in Mussoorie, India as an architect and a project developer. The TNL India Team (Bobby Rinehart, Simeon Turner, Dave Terpstra, Jared Mackey) is going to encourage Ryan and support the community he is a part of there. We ask for your prayers for the following for our team: for Ryan, his church leaders, and coworkers with EMI to be encouraged and refreshed by our visit; that our hearts would be motivated by compassion and love for the Church in India; that we would communicate the hope of Christ to a country in the midst of persecution; our safety and health as we travel; that God would be honored as we serve, learn, and partner with Ryan and those we meet. We will be updating a blog while away - TNLfriendsofindia.blogspot.com.

Call & Response Film
October 10-20, 2008

Call+Response, a film from director and producer Justin Dillon, uses celebrities and musicians to bring attention to the tragedy of modern slavery. Denver is one of 15 cities the film will be released in, October 10–20, at the Mayan Theatre and Starz Film Center. Tickets can be purchased online at www.callandresponse.com. The film is a part of the growing abolitionist movement on human trafficking that continues to create both awareness and social action.

Terpstra Family Update
posted August 26, 2008

Dear TNL,

My wife Amy and I are planning to move our family to Mozambique, Africa next year. Almost ten years ago, when we first came to TNL, we were burned out on church and frustrated with the idea of doing ministry vocationally.  I was still in seminary, but after two messy church experiences, the thought of graduating from school and working for a church didn’t sit well.  But God used TNL to reconnect us to Christian community and to ministry. Now, after nearly a decade of serving and leading around TNL God has again used this community to change the direction we are headed... For the rest of Dave's letter click here.

Anesthesia CD Release
September 9, 2008

TNL is proud to announce the debut project release of Anesthesia, “Wake Up.” This project is rather unique in that it is entirely instrumental and follows in the footsteps of post-rock groups The Album Leaf, Sigur Ros, and Explosions in the Sky in its musical and creative exploration.  Completely written, inspired, performed and produced by individuals in the community, we couldn't be more excited and supportive of what we believe is an appropriate creative response to what God has been up to at TNL.

More information available at www.anesthesiaproject.com.
You can purchase the CD at the Information Table on Tuesday nights or download it through our Amazon store.

Life Season Project
July-August 2008

As part of capturing this summer’s Life Season Project, we would love to create a visual, web-based representation of what and who the project represented. Whether you were able to attend a discussion night or not, we’d like you to help provide us with some potential visual media that we can combine with the list of verbal descriptors that each group is compiling. Help us create artforms that capture your place in life: pictures that represent your life season, photos you might go and capture, lines you’ve written in LSP journal reflections, music or songs that you listen to or have written that fit your place in life, book titles you are reading, art you are creating, etc. For submissions or questions, contact John Miller.
